Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra (addressed as Gusde) is one of the Balinese young figures who is a success as a leader role model, combining his talents, modern management, and local wisdom. Born in Denpasar, Mei 21, 1970, Gusde was raised in a (Hindu) priest household environment, always focusing on spiritual, social and environmental harmony.
Sidharta Putra graduated from Maryville University, St. Louis, US. He owns and operates Group of Santrian which currently runs three major hotels namely Griya Santrian, Puri Santrian and The Royal Santrian as well as a variety of other tourism related businesses (restaurant, rafting, tourism attraction etc), all which have survived the competition with international brands in Bali.
Related to his success story in the accommodation business, he has been entrusted to chair the Denpasar Hotel and Restaurant Organization (Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia / PHRI) and become committee member for Bali Tourism Board. Gusde continually contributes to organization development by offering promotion strategies, advice, input and consideration to local government, in order for the laws and regulations to accommodate stakeholder interest as well as tourism industry growth.
Since 2005, Sidharta Putra has chaired the Yayasan Pembangunan Sanur (YPS), a community empowerment Foundation for social, education, economy, religion and social cultural aspects. Gusde has consistently developed Sanur’s potential, strengthening its reputation as an international tourism destination while maintaining its artistic, cultural, and environmental heritage. He built the Foundation, empowering and integrating all existing community potentials to improve Sanur community livelihood.
Sanur, together with Wakatobi (South East Sulawesi), Komodo Island (East Nusa Tenggara), Toraja (South Sulawesi), and Bromo (East Java) was chosen as a National Tourism Strategic Zone by the Tourism and Creative Economy Department. Sanur was consider as a success in independently implementing tourism promotions through its annual Sanur Village Festival event, founded and actively held under Sidharta Putra. This annual community event is currently entering its eight year, consisting of art and culture, culinary, sport, environment activities and many more creative innovative activities, presented as an international festival and attracting hundreds and thousands of visitors each year.
Santrian Group's Corporate Social Responsibility funds are mainly channeled to Yayasan Pembangunan Sanur activities, among them reforestation efforts using trees or rare vegetation used for the Hindu religious ceremonies. The funds are also used for revitalizing coral reef, art and culture preservation efforts and attempts to protect Sanur from mass tourism trends, consistently aiming for developing Sanur as a quality destination.
Sidharta Putra leadership is completed with his involvement in religious social activities as Chairman of the
10 Dharma Gosana Siwa Buddha Denpasar, which recently held a gathering of all Hindu priests in Indonesia. For Gusde, his activities in the business, social and religious sector continually demands fresh ideas, innovation, creativity to ensure entity management effectively and integrated.
