Kaitlin established an online platform, PLUS, that connects social entrepreneurs to opportunities and helps them grow by offering business consultations. PLUS is the go-to resource for information on social entrepreneurs in Indonesia, and is the first to develop a publicly available directory of social enterprises across the country.
Formerly, she worked with Pt. Mitra Adiperkasa to develop a comprehensive training program that will work with potential employees to prepare them for the workforce. This program will provide a critical bridge between those who are looking for work, and employers who are looking for qualified applicants.
Dr. Shilling completed her Ph.D. at Stanford University in 2012, examining the relationship between governance, agricultural commodities, climate change and conflict. Dr. Shilling’s previous work experience in Indonesia, Afghanistan, Liberia and Haiti offered her opportunities to design participatory programs that met local needs and capitalized on potential opportunities. In Afghanistan she had responsibility for developing, implementing and evaluating programs, focusing on vocational training for women, on a large alternative livelihoods project. As a key DAI program manager, she developed and implemented very successful programs, under difficult circumstances, that were recognized with both promotions and commendations.
