I Wayan Kastawan graduated from the University of Udayana, Bali-Indonesia as an architect and completed his Master in Heritage Management at Sheffield Hallam University, England. He received his Doctor of Engineering in Architecture at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan. He is a lecturer at the University of Udayana and visiting lecturer at Tourism Institute of Nusa Dua Bali, Indonesia. Beside as a public servant lecturer, he spent his time as a development expert member for Bangli Regency Government and also as an expert coordinator of Batur Global Geopark : a member of GGN-Unesco. He is founding of Private Architectural Conservation Studio in Bali, Indonesia. As an Architect, Conservator and a Heritage Manager, he managed and coordinated some projects, such as: reconstruction of Wantilan/Meeting Hall Pavillion at Taman Ayun Temple; Master Plan of Tourism Development in Badung Regency and Denpasar City, Bali; Master Plan of Inner Caldera of Batur Geopark. And also, he is founding of Bali Heritage Foundation, currently he involves activly in some voluntary efforts for heritage conservation through build of community wearness to get a better understanding of our heritage.
